DEFENCE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES is related to defence and political science. It covers all strategic and domestic issues that affect the security and defence of the nation. This course helps the candidate to gain adequate military education, mainly the historical and geographical aspects. By gaining awareness of war and its associated problems, one can help the government in strategic policy development.

The approach to the study of national security is interdisciplinary and encompasses such aspects like geopolitics and military geography, science and technology, economics of defence, conflict management and conflict resolution, etc.

A variety of topics, including strategic study of India, fundamentals of war and peace and world military history are covered in this subject. The department has an excellent lab facility for conducting experiments and exercises related to different types of maps and depiction of battles with the help of models.
