MATHEMATICS is the abstract study of subjects encompassing quantity, structure, space, change, and more. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate of new conjectures and resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proof. The research required to solve mathematical problems can take years or even centuries of sustained inquiry. The mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena and mathematical reasoning often provides insight or predictions about nature. Through the use of abstraction and logical reasoning, Mathematics developed from counting, calculation, measurement, and the systematic study of the shapes and motions of physical objects. Another side, Practical Mathematics has been human activities for as far back as written records exist. Actuarial science takes Mathematics and Statistics and applies them to finance and insurance. Operations research is an interdisciplinary branch of Mathematics which uses mathematical methods to arrive at optimal decisions to problems in maximizing or minimizing things like costs or profits. Mathematical biology or Biomathematics is an interdisciplinary field of study. It models natural and biological processes using mathematical techniques and tools. Cryptography is considered to be a branch of both Mathematics and Computer Science.
The department offers programmes in B. Sc. and B.A. with Mathematics, M.Sc. and M.A. in Mathematics. The computer and Internet facility is also available to the P.G. students. Our motivated and Scholar lecturers make learning congenial, interesting and effective, as a result, every year on an average 4 – 5 studentstand in university merit list.

This is the golden age for Masters and Ph.D. degree holders in Mathematics. Candidate may incline towards a research career.
